This doughnut cutter was a huge help for me. Though it may seem small at only three inches in diameter, it is actually well suited to doughnut-making--they plump up quite a bit in the hot oil. It was easy to use--much easier than trying to cut donuts freehand--and a snap to clean off. The only issue I had was the inner blade, the part that cuts the hole. It wasn't flush with the outer blade, so it would only make a circular outline where the hole should be. I had to insert a turkey skewer into the top of the cutter in order to remove the excess dough from the center. I suppose that this would be helpful for making filled doughnuts, and the use of this cutter sped up the process nonetheless. It's a great kitchen tool to have.

This cutter works every bit as well as a professional cutter from a company such as Rochow, although not as heavy. As for those who are having difficulty with the inner ring being recessed farther than the outer ring when the cutter comes from the factory, please remember that this is intended to be a professional cutter and to be maintained as such. If you take the cutter to a professional knife sharpener, they will sharpen the outer edge until it lines up with the inner edge. That will allow you to make doughnuts without having to tear out the center hole. This is a tip I learned while working in a doughnut shop. Hope this helps.

The outside ring works well but the inside ring leaves an incomplete cut. It appears that the two rings are not at the same level leaving no way that the inside ring can make contact with the cutting surface. I am cutting the inside ring with a separate modified piece of metal.
